OUR HISTORY
and who we are now
Standing high above Towan Beach, the familiar façade of the Beaconsfield Hotel (now known as C-Space) has watched the town change from the quiet summers of the pre-war years to the purposeful stride of the men of the Royal Air Force.
From 1941 to 1944 its rooms served as billets for recruits of No. 8 Initial Training Wing, whose days began with roll-call on The Crescent and ended with lights-out long after the Cornish dusk had fallen.
Long after the 8th Training Wing marched away, the building continued to stand sentinel over Newquay’s shoreline, adapting to the needs of each generation. Today, under the name C-Space, its doors open not to airmen but to entrepreneurs, artists, and innovators — a diverse group of people pursuing their own missions of creation and progress. The hum of laptops replaces the drone of training aircraft, yet the purpose remains the same: to build, to learn, and to serve.
Thus, from billets to business hub, the Beaconsfield’s story mirrors that of Newquay itself — a town shaped by service, strengthened by community,
and ever ready to look seaward toward new horizons.
At C-Space, it's not just about where you work, it's about how the space makes you feel and the community you become a part of.
